Apoliti Alithia
Apoliti Alithia is a being which adapts itself in a person’s head and gains control of their vision. The appearance of the revolting being resembles something between an octopus and a starfish. It is usually described as having limbs similar to tentacles, thick hide, and an immovable eye covered by a hard shell protruding from its back. The eye is connected with a membrane which the creature attaches to the person's eyes after having clasped the subject's head with its tentacles. This way the person is able to see only the distorted and fixed view that the rooted eye provides. The victim, so to say, is never aware of the creature's presence, neither before nor after it has gotten a hold of them and enjoys the strange and unique sense of comfort Apoliti Alithia can give. Due to its thick hide and hard shell but its tight grip as well, it is always very hard to remove an Apoliti Alithia from a person’s head and the host will usually try to fight any attempt for removal. Nevertheless, it is possible, depending on how tight and deep Apoliti Alithlia has managed to get a hold of its host, but it is a distressing procedure for the host. The beings origins along with how someone can become a victim of it, are not yet entirely known but it is speculated that the creature has links with a variety of other creatures and deities.
Apoliti Alithia (Απόλυτη Αλήθεια) is greek for Absolute Truth.
In this work the term Apoliti Alithia is used for the situation when a person perceives an opinion about something , some belief, an idea,a sum of ideas / ideology, a world perspective or a conclusion (let us call all that his interpretation of reality), as completely true, as a given truth or as an Absolute Truth with the philosophical use of the term which means something that is true at all times and in all places , something that is always true no matter what the circumstances , a fact that cannot be changed, that something is true regardless of whether or not you believe that it is. And when that person refuses to doubt it or acknowledge the possibility of it being false or untrue no matter the evidence or the arguments.
The most obvious example of an Apoliti Alitheia would be religion where even though that there are no evidence that any god exists, some people perceive their religion as an Absolute Truth. An other example could be morality and when a person fails to recognize the flexibility of morality, so to say, and considers his or her own moral code, whatever that is, as a universal rule for right and wrong or an Absolute Truth, when morality is something philosophically fragile, diverse and in all likelihood a human fiction. A similar situation is also when someone believes something and no matter the evidence or arguments you present to them he refuses to even doubt it. As an example I think of a man in the 19th century who believes that a homosexual, a colored person or a woman cannot be equal or better than him no matter the evidence that point towards the opposite. Although the above examples are quite apparent situations of Apoliti Alithia if you pay attention you can see similar ways of thinking in the majority of people. The dangers and problems, which Apoliti Alithia can cause , I will let you think on your own.
Finally I should make clear that the term Apoliti Alithia is used here only for the people that perceive their interpretation of reality, or a part of it, as the only possible version of reality or as an Absolute Truth. Namely a person that believes in god or a person with a certain moral code or with any kind of belief, who views that belief as something not absolute, is able to acknowledge the possibility of it being not true or views it as a personal choice etc. does not fall in the category of people that are ‘‘grabbed by an Apoliti Alithia creature’’.
